SEL-751 feeder protection relay
SEL-751 feeder protection relay

Arc-flash protection

Protection that fits your scheme. SEL-751 and alternative relay options, with detection and trip integration specified for the project.

Technical details

Where specified, a suitably equipped SEL-751 can provide arc-flash detection using the optional detection hardware. Sensor coverage, current supervision, trip circuits and the upstream switching arrangement need to be coordinated as a complete scheme.

Specify the protection philosophy, relay requirements, sensing zones, trip destinations and required testing. Arc-flash detection is a mitigation measure; it does not establish an assembly’s internal-arc rating or replace a project-specific assessment.

Schneider Electric Masterpact MTZ range
Schneider Electric Masterpact MTZ range

Masterpact MTZ ERMS

A dedicated maintenance protection mode for suitably equipped MTZ breakers. We integrate the equipment and operating interfaces into your board.

Technical details

Its effect depends on the selected breaker and control unit, protection settings and available fault current. The project protection engineer should define the settings and assess the effect on fault clearing and coordination.

Agree activation, indication and the procedure for returning to normal operation. ERMS does not make equipment safe to work on energised; isolation and the site’s safe-work procedures remain essential.

Temperature monitoring

Keep watch on selected connections and components. Bring readings and alarms into the monitoring system your team uses.

Technical details

Define the monitoring points early so sensor locations, insulation clearances, wiring or wireless connectivity and access can be considered in the layout. Alarm outputs and available readings can be integrated with the agreed site monitoring system.

Specify the points to monitor, alarm requirements, data destination and who responds to an alarm. The sensor system and thresholds are selected for the application; monitoring complements inspection and maintenance.

VESDA smoke detection

Air sampling for smoke detection. We coordinate equipment space, sampling arrangements and the agreed alarm interfaces.

Technical details

Coordinate sampling locations, airflow, filtration, access and pipe routing with the fire-system designer. The enclosure layout and operating environment influence how the detection system is designed.

Agree the fire-system design, installation, commissioning and ongoing service responsibilities. VESDA detects smoke; suppression and electrical tripping require separately designed systems and interfaces.

Jactone PAFSS electrical enclosure fire suppression

Fire suppression

PAFSS and other project-specified systems. Planned into the enclosure with space, access and interfaces considered early.

Technical details

The enclosure volume, compartment arrangement, ventilation and openings need to be considered alongside the selected extinguishing system. Space, routing, access and any alarm or shutdown interfaces should be established before manufacture.

Confirm the system design and supplier requirements, installation and commissioning scope, and service access with the responsible specialist. Suppression is distinct from arc-flash detection and protection.

Schneider Electric EcoStruxure Panel Server

Connected metering

Make switchboard data useful. EcoStruxure, Panel Server, PowerTag and metering options connect the board to your wider operation.

Technical details

EcoStruxure Panel Server provides a gateway for compatible connected devices. Depending on the equipment and software selected, the solution can bring together energy measurements, device information and alarms for the agreed monitoring application.

Define the compatible devices, network connections, data points, software licences, user access and handover requirements. Local monitoring, SCADA/BMS integration and cloud services are separate choices to agree with the customer and site integrator.

Start with the operational questions: where is energy used, which loads need separate measurement, and what electrical events need to be captured? These determine the instrument capability and monitoring points.

Agree electrical ratings, instrument-transformer requirements, measured quantities, accuracy and logging needs. An energy meter and a power-quality analyser provide different levels of information.
