Is the furniture worth refinishing?
Check the frame, welds and areas where water collects. Surface rust and a tired coating are different from significant metal loss or a damaged structure. Coating improves the finish; it does not make a weakened frame sound.
Send photographs of the whole item and close-ups of problem areas. Tell the workshop whether it is steel, aluminium or another metal, and whether the old finish has been repaired before. Upholstery, plastic feet, timber and other fittings may need removal before processing.
Choose for the place it will live
A covered patio and an exposed coastal deck have different demands. Describe sunlight, wind-driven rain, salt and how often the furniture is moved or stacked. Ask for a coating system appropriate to that exposure.
An exterior-suitable finish should be selected with the preparation system. Do not assume that a colour code identifies the coating’s durability class or that a primer suitable for one substrate suits another.

Inspect contact points and damaged edges, particularly after transport or heavy use. Coastal exposure may require more frequent care. Address damage promptly with advice appropriate to the coating system rather than leaving exposed metal to corrode.
