ACB retrofits.
CWS has undertaken planned replacement of obsolete air circuit breakers in existing dairy-processing main switchboards, using Schneider Electric Masterpact MTZ equipment and retrofit arrangements around tightly controlled shutdown windows.
Retain the board. Renew the protection.
An ACB retrofit is not automatically the right answer for every ageing switchboard. The existing assembly still needs to be assessed for condition, ratings, documentation, busbar arrangement, cable interfaces and suitability for the proposed work. Where those constraints can be resolved, a planned breaker retrofit can avoid unnecessary replacement of the complete MSB.

Retrofit work starts before the shutdown.
Existing assembly
Confirm enclosure geometry, breaker mounting, busbar interfaces, cable terminations and available documentation before finalising the retrofit arrangement.
Protection
Confirm breaker rating and protection requirements against the actual circuit and system study rather than selecting a new ACB on frame size alone.
Shutdown
Plan adaptation work, access and testing so the outage is used for controlled installation rather than unresolved design work.
