What started in a Princess Street garage in Invercargill in 1971 is now one of
New Zealand’s most respected heavy industrial trades employers. Still family-owned,
still Southland-built, with 25 staff, a large heated workshop, and team members with
30-year careers on the floor. This is a place people stay. Clive Wilson is always
looking for capable people to fill roles in all areas of our business.

We build low voltage switchboards and motor control centres for New Zealand’s most
demanding industrial environments. Fonterra, Silver Fern Farms, NZAS Tiwai Point,
Antarctica NZ. Our boards run 24/7 in dairy factories, aluminium smelters,
wastewater plants, and remote research stations. The work is real, technical,
and genuinely skilled.

What You Will Work On

With Southland's industrial and data centre pipeline growing, there has never been a better time to get into switchboard manufacturing. Every board we build is designed, assembled, wired, and factory tested in-house before it ships nationwide. As part of our team, you will be hands-on with:

Main Switchboards (MSB) — Up to 8000A, high fault rated, heavy industrial assemblies
Motor Control Centres (MCC) — Form 4b Type 2b, withdrawable, dairy and processing environments
Distribution Boards — Commercial, infrastructure, and data centre PDUs
ATS Changeover Systems — Automatic and manual backup power assemblies
Cable Management and Containment — Large scale MSB wiring and termination
Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) — Every board tested in-house before it leaves the floor
Site Work — Installation and commissioning on industrial sites nationwide

This is not light work. The boards are large, heavy, and built to exact standards. You need to be physically capable and prepared to do the hard yards, especially in your first years. The reward is a career with rare and genuinely valuable skills.
