Logstrup Switchboards Built in New Zealand

Logstrup is a Danish modular low-voltage switchboard platform engineered to IEC 61439-1/2. CWS is the New Zealand panel-builder constructing Logstrup-based switchboards for plants that need a globally type-tested platform, built and supported locally from our Invercargill factory. We hold a licensed panel-builder relationship with A/S Løgstrup-Steel and assemble the kit into finished boards inside the type-tested envelope.

Platform Overview
What Logstrup Is

A Danish-Engineered, Globally Type-Tested LV Switchboard Platform

Logstrup is a modular low-voltage switchboard platform manufactured by A/S Løgstrup-Steel, a Danish family-owned company founded in 1958 and still led by the Løgstrup family. The platform is type-tested as a complete system to IEC 61439-1/2 (the parent standard for AS/NZS 61439) and is deployed worldwide through licensed panel-builders. CWS builds Logstrup boards in Invercargill inside that type-tested envelope.

  • Type-tested envelope: IEC 61439-1/2 with internal arc Class C up to 100 kA / 500 ms
  • Modular framework: 190 mm modular grid, 2 mm Aluzinc steel, five-bend construction
  • Form 4a engineered in: Internal separation built into the platform (Form 4b on request)
  • Main busbar up to 8,500 A: Headroom for the largest NZ industrial sites
  • Built locally in New Zealand: Modular kit imported, assembled, wired, tested and supported in Invercargill

Architecture
Inside the Logstrup Modular System

Modular Framework, Type-Tested Busbars, Five Unit Types

Every Logstrup section is built on a 190 mm modular grid. The framework is 2 mm Aluzinc steel in a five-bend construction, heavier and more rigid than the bent-tray frames used in lower-tier systems. That rigidity is what lets Logstrup carry main busbars up to 8,500 A and pass internal arc tests at fault levels most NZ plants will never see.

  • Main busbar (Inc): Up to 8,500 A
  • Short-circuit withstand (Icw): Up to 165 kA / 1 sec
  • Peak short-circuit (Ipk): Up to 363 kA
  • Internal arc: Class C up to 100 kA / 500 ms
  • Ingress protection: IP55 standard, IP56 optional
  • Five unit types: Fixed, Removable (RMU), Withdrawable (WDU/MDU), Mini-Withdrawable, Inline
  • Platform-agnostic load equipment: ABB, Siemens, Schneider, Terasaki, Jean Müller, Wöhner

Compliance & Type-Testing
Type-Tested to IEC 61439-1/2

Full Type-Test Documentation Inherited from A/S Løgstrup-Steel

The single biggest reason consultants specify Logstrup is the type-test envelope. The platform is independently verified by certified European laboratories and carries full design verification documentation under IEC 61439-1/2, the parent standard for our local AS/NZS 61439. Every Logstrup board we build in Invercargill inherits that type-test envelope and ships with the routine-test report under AS/NZS 61439.

  • IEC 61439-1/2: Type-tested as a complete system, not assembled to a spec
  • IEC TR 61641: Internal arc fault testing, Class C up to 100 kA / 500 ms
  • IEC 62208: Empty enclosure verification
  • Marine approvals: DNV, Lloyd's Register, ABS, MIL-S-901D
  • Other approvals: SABS/SANS, UL 508A, CSA-22-2 where applicable
  • ISO certified manufacturing: ISO 9001 / 14001 / 45001 at the Danish factory

Internal Separation
Form 4a as Standard

Form 4a Built In, Form 4b Available on Request

Logstrup is one of the few platforms where Form 4b (full separation including separated terminals between functional units) is built into the type-test report, not retrofitted with sheet-metal separators. Our standard Logstrup build for NZ projects is Form 4a, which matches the Simotrol default and the majority of NZ consultant specifications. Form 4b is a documented option whenever the consultant or asset owner specifies it.

  • Form 4a (CWS standard): Separation between functional units, shared cable termination compartments
  • Form 4b (on request): Full separation including separated terminals per functional unit
  • Type-tested separation: Both forms documented in the Logstrup type-test report
  • Demountable construction: Withdrawable option available where the consultant specifies it
  • Other forms supported: Form 1 through Form 4b (Type 1 to Type 7)

Danish-Engineered Platform, NZ Manufacturing and After-Sales

The advantage of a Logstrup board built by CWS is that you get the global type-test envelope of a Danish-engineered platform together with the lead time, FAT and after-sales support of a local panel-builder. The kit ships from Denmark; the board is engineered, assembled, wired, tested, delivered and supported from our Invercargill factory. If something needs attention five years from now, you call our Invercargill workshop, not an offshore aftercare desk.

  • Licensed Logstrup panel-builder: We work inside the original IEC 61439-1/2 type-test envelope
  • Routine-tested locally: AS/NZS 61439 routine test on every board before despatch, witness FAT available
  • Local after-sales: Same NZ team supports the board through its life
  • Logstrup parts held at the NZ distributor in Auckland: The Logstrup distributor in Auckland stocks the majority of modular parts, so most build programmes don't wait on a sea-freight container from Denmark
  • Choice of platform: We also build Simotrol and Schneider Prisma, we recommend the platform that fits the project, not the platform that fits our shop
