Simotrol switchboards.
MSBs and MCCs.
Our primary platform for main switchboards and motor control centres. Manufactured in Invercargill, Simotrol is configured around your incoming supply, outgoing circuits, motor duties and control requirements.
CWS’s primary platform for main switchboards and motor control centres. The required assembly rating is confirmed for each project.
One platform for power and motor control.
For a main switchboard, start with the supply arrangement and outgoing circuit schedule. For an MCC, add the motor list, starting methods and control interfaces. The assembly ratings are established for the specified configuration.
Simotrol construction provides defined spaces for the busbar system, equipment and cable connections. The layout is developed around the circuit schedule, device sizes, control interfaces and access needed for installation and maintenance.
Top or bottom cable entry and future additions should be discussed before the lineup is finalised. Existing installations require a review of their condition and arrangement before an extension or modification can be specified.

Simotrol MCC ratings and separation.
The CWS MCC range includes assemblies up to 2,500 A, Form 3b or 4a separation and 50 or 63 kA short-time withstand for 1 second. The selected configuration and project requirements determine the rating of the completed assembly.
The 63 kA duration is 1 second. Confirm fault-level information, operating conditions and the required verification documentation when specifying an assembly.
Starters, drives and controls
Specify motor duties, starter types, VSD requirements and the control philosophy. PLC interfaces, communications and site integration responsibilities need to be clear so the board can be wired and tested against an agreed scope.
Design for installation and handover
| Requirement | What to include |
|---|---|
| Motors | Motor schedule, ratings, starting method, duty and drive requirements. |
| Supply | Single-line diagram, assembly current and fault current with duration. |
| Control | I/O schedule, control philosophy, communications and interface boundaries. |
| Installation | Room dimensions, cable entry, access, transport and lifting constraints. |
| Testing | Factory-test scope, witness requirements and handover documents. |
For the wider motor-control service, see motor control centres. For an existing board, see switchboard maintenance.
Send your MSB or MCC requirements.
Share the motor schedule, single-line diagram and control requirements. We can review the Simotrol arrangement and the interfaces needed for your project.
